Hi Everyone,
I just purchased the Cyberbuddy Premium a few days ago to have the Voice Recognition. After all, Windows 7 already has it built in. However, I have a Dual Boot Laptop that has both Windows 7 and XP, but I still just like to use Windows XP most of the time. It still is my favorite, but I would like that function and more for my XP.
Question: I would like to know if Cyberbuddy will work with Dragon Naturally Speaking and if so, how do I choose it as the Engine or Speech Recognition System to be used by Cyberbuddy? I know that Dragon Naturally Speaking is most accurate. It would be wonderful if you can choose which Voice System or Engine one would like to use for Voice Input and Voice Recognition. I have Dragon Naturally Speaking v11 installed on my laptop, and about 20 different Voices of all sorts. I can get about 5 or 6 different Voices that are pretty realistic working great with Cyberbuddy for Speech Output.
I used the Microsoft 4 Engine that Cyberbuddy is supposed to be compatible with and I can barely get it to recognize even one command. I spent 3 hours Voice Training it, and I kept checking my Sound, Speech, Voice and Microphone settings. I kept saying, "show webpage", for over an hour. I finally got it to recognize that command by lowering the input level of accuracy in the Cyberbuddy Speech Options, but that was about all.
I tried for hours on Saturday to try to get Cyberbuddy recognize but a few words or commands. I used the commands from this page that I found by searching Google:
mycyberbuddy.com/speechrecognition/Page2.html
I have a very good headset with mic used with Skype, and made for Speech Recognition. I have windows XP SP2, on a Dual Core 2.0, 4 gigs ram, and 500 gigs of HDD laptop. I also have e-speaking, and Ultra Hal, and they both work quite well. I just have them set to not start unless I choose. But I wanted something more useful in these days of Siri Voice for Apple phones, like an Assistant that did it all, or as much as possible. I was really pleasantly surprised with the newer functions of Cyberbuddy.
I was trying a number of Voice Assistants out and definitely like the way Cyberbuddy checks Mail, News, Weather, and some of the cute animated more realistic human virtual characters through Desktopmates.
I remember Cyberbuddy from years ago as that program that used those Childish Characters and did not really do much of anything useful other than talk, so I almost did not even check it out until I got Ultra Hal. Glad to see Cyberbuddy has come so much further.
Question, what else can I do to get Cyberbuddy to work with Speech Recognition and Voice Commands?
My laptop and setup work pretty well with Ultra Hal, and E-speaking, but I only have Cyberbuddy chosen to load at Windows start up?
Is it normally this terrible with Speech Recognition or is it something wrong that I must be doing? What else can I try?
I just cannot understand why we with only laptops and no smart phones are not getting the same level of technology in Voice Recognition as those who have the Apple Cell Phones with Siri?
Are they trying to do away with conventional laptops and computers as they try to integrate computer tech into other home devices that will be useful but ever so more intrude into our privacy and our lives?
Thank you sincerely for any help.
