I suddenly had a renewed interest in msagent and decided to dig my old CD out of the drawer, only to find that it would not install on Windows 7, and there were no patches on the website to make that possible (unless I want to fork out another $20).
I DID manage to get it installed by copying my old installation from WindowsXP. But now I'm stuck with an older version (4.12.27) which doesn't seem to want to connect to anything (chat, news, weather, etc...). Is it just me, or am I trying to resurrect a dinosaur? I tried emailing mr DeFino, but haven't got an answer thus far.
I know msagent has been dropped by Microsoft, and there is probably no future in it, but there has to be SOMEBODY out there who still uses it! And if so, where can I get an update?

use the free download link for the new cyberbuddy its on the same page with premium , write jd at support@thecyberbuddy.com , be sure to use the word cyberbuddy in the subject line or it will be treated as spam , write jd for authorisation for newby putting your e-mail used for purchase and username . he will send you a code follow directions download link thecyberbuddy.com/Page11.html |

I tried emailing him first (with CyberBuddy in subject line as per-instructions). I even included a picture of me holding up my CD. I didn't send him all the other info, though. After all this time, I have no idea what info I even gave him. Oh well... I guess I can send him my ten year list of possible usernames.

Well I did as you said and got a reply from JD, and he sent me a link and a code. **Thanks, JD, if you're reading this** The program still won't connect to anything, though. I guess this puppy has died. :-( That's OK. Instant messaging isn't really what I wanted it for. Anyhow, Thanks again, y'all!  |

There is a bad file in the Cyberbuddy , JD and I found it and he has sent me a replacement file , send me your E-Mail Address to muggs1@comcast.net , I will send the replacement file to you . Please make sure both Cyberbud 32 and MSAgent exe are shut down (cyberbuudy closed) use task manager , Processes tab to make sure cyber and agents are not running , then a simple copy paste of the new file to the main cyberbuddy folder which is C:\Apps\Cyberbuddy , once the new file has replaced the old file , then restart cyberbuddy , after it has had a few minutes to warm up as it were Ping 1111 , ping 2000 , ping 3000 that will help begin building a buddylist as soon as possible pinging will be nescessary to get a list to show

Thanks, Yeti! YOU DA MAN!  Everything connects now. I went to the site to get Cyber's character, but the download link is dead, so I just copied Robby and renamed him Cyber (he seemed the most logical alternative). I wonder if JD knows that all of his "Talk To Me - CyberTheBot" links all redirect to: cyberthebot.com, home of "Cyber The Bot – Dental Marketing Software"? Hey, I don't suppose you know a trick for using SAPI5 voices? lol Thanks again! |

HELLO EJP , you can write John DeFino At support and make sure you have your user name ,and U-I-N , and reg code, e-mail , you purchased the original CB he will send a link and everything you need , once you have this , let me know . DID I SEND YOU THE CBParms.cfg file , that needs to be replaced with the read only version for cyberbuddy to work the chat let me know if you still need it thre are some enhancement files i am sure you would enjoy
