There are some common problems that are very easy to fix, but people are not aware on how to fix those problems. So here is the most common problems you may run into with CyberBuddy. The Agents have pink/other weird color backgrounds on Windows 7 32 and 64 bit. There is currently a bug on Windows 7 where, the agents are fully functional but have this background. Sometimes with big agents, the background can take up half of your computer. This is a very easy fix. Go to support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=969168, and click on the giant button that says Hotfix Download Available. Then accept the terms. It will automatically detect your OS, and it will detect whether it is 32 or 64 bit. Enter your email address, then type in the CAPTCHA. Go to your submitted email address, then, click on the download. Install the hotfix, and then restart your computer. The next time you run CyberBuddy or any MS agent program, the weird background will be fixed. The chat keeps saying Connecting... in green or blue letters, and never connects.Make sure your Firewall is not blocking CyberBuddy from establishing a connection. If you have a router, try going into advanced options, and use server-based instant messaging. Make sure your computer & router's firewall isn't also blocking the connection. In extremely rare cases, your location, or IP range may be blocked from accessing CyberBuddy. Make sure you also have Instant Messaging Enabled ticked, and not Instant Messaging Disabled or Messages from Contacts Only. The Email function does not work!Unfortunately, the Email Function will not work with MSN, Hotmail, Gmail, or Yahoo!. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a way to fix it. RSS Feeds don't work!Unfortunately, certain RSS feeds are not compatible with CyberBuddy. However, most are compatible. Cyber the Bot is offline! For some people, Cyber the Bot pops up as offline for them. If he shows up as offline, click on his name, and press Ping. Right click on his name and click Synchronize. If he is still offline, try restarting the program. If he is still offline after that, you may be blocked from chatting with Cyber. This does not mean you have done something wrong, your block may have been accidental or meant for somebody else. Contact a moderator if you think you may have been blocked from chatting with the bot accidentally.

Alex when the access violation shows up "Closing CyberBuddy" in the normal manner will not work. You Need to right click in the taskbar and click "Task Manager" in the tabs at the top of the task manager , click "Processes" . directly above the top entry in the list , you will see a box saying "Image Name . Click that box . That will Alphabetise the list , either reverse of forward .Its best to click it so the processes that begin with A are at the top , As you look through the list look for "CyberBud.exe . Click that line , to highlight it , then down in the bottom right corner of the task manager it says "End Process" a warning dialogue box will appear click the Yes in the box . Agent server will automatically close by itself within 10 seconds. close the task manager wait 30 seconds and restart Cyberbuddy. If the access violation appears again , repeat the process and reboot the computer. The problem usually takes care of itself .

Thanks, Vern C I've noticed this as well, and I'm not exactly sure how to fix it. I think it's CyberBuddy trying to get a feed from something, but I have my news, internet speeds weather stocks etc unchecked so it can't be that.

I have been using CyberBuddy almost from it beginning , I know that it uses 1 IP address and none of my computers have shown or had any bad effects from it . try writing John at support@thecyberbuddy.com . Please be sure to use the word "CyberBuddy" in the subject line or the e-mail will be rejected .

I believe I know the issue. Recently I retired some old name server domain names. CyberBuddy was still referencing those names. That would have resulted in an error being returned by Godaddy as an unknown name server. I am updating parameters to fix this. The problem should disappear soon.

Hi I am new to the forum but had cyberbuddy years ago and just got him again. The problem is the pink or turquoise square behind the character. Early on this message board there was link given to a microsoft page with a 'hotfix' button but when I click on that link there is nothing like that on that site. HELP please

then hotfix button takes you to the microsoft page where you fill out a form after putting a checkmark in the operating system you use . microsoft will then send you an e-mail with a link to download the msagent fix .

I must be losing it because I can't see a hotfix button on the page. Sorry for being such a pain. Just found it. This is now the proper link or at least where I found it. support.microsoft.com/kb/969168/en-us but alas it didn't work for me. I'm running Windows 8 so maybe there is another hotfix for windows 8? Don't like this colored square around the characters.

the green rectangle that says gotfix is availkable for download , you click that , it takess you to a new page . the new page is an acceptance page . scroll down and accept. once you accept it takes you to another page . the page has select operating system . Whatever operating system you are using will be listed put a checkmark init . then fill out the boxes as instructed. when your done microsoft will send you an e-mail towards the bottom of the e-mail is the download link. You click it and a download box appears .i reccomend saving to desktop if a save to is available. you Must Read the entire E-Mail because there are more than one link. Some are support . the (usually) close to the bottom of the e-mail is the download link. once saved , double click the file and follow the instructions.

There is no green rectangle that says hotfix or gotfix or whatever on the page you reach with that link you have near the top of the page. I found a hotfix at the link I showed and its regarding Microsoft Agents but it didn't work for getting rid of the background. I installed it and restarted the computer but I still have the colored square.
